Health Information
Maintaining herd health is a priority at Dawnwind Dairy Goats. We are an abscess-free herd. All animals have tested negative for CAE on our annual test via Herd Health Diagnostics, with the most recent results in September 2023. Results available on request.
For 2024, all of our kids will be removed from their dam at birth and bottle raised on milk from CAE-negative does. Kids are disbudded (except for reserved horned wethers) and tattooed.
Purchasing Information
We love to help young kids get involved with goats, so we are pleased to offer 4-H or FFA discounts, or starter herd packages to young goat enthusiasts.
If you are interested in a reservation, please contact us by email (farm.at.hicken@juno.com) or Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/dawnwinddairygoats/) to get on a reservation list.
Reservation deposits are $50/animal. Full payment for animals is due prior to pick-up or delivery. We prefer to have animals at their new home within 30 days of birth or purchase. Special arrangements need to be made to hold an animal beyond 30 days, including a $2/head/day boarding fee. Deposit money will be used to pay board beyond 30 days. After 25 days of unpaid board, the animal may be relisted for sale or retained. We may chose to not sell a kid after evaluating it.
We offer incentives to buyers of our animals:
$50 for a doe obtaining her *M designation
$50 for a Linear Appraisal final score of 90 or higher
$50 for obtaining a CH (Champion) designation
$50 for placing in the top 20 at Nationals or $100/top 10
We occasionally have adult milkers and bucks for sale.
Buyer is responsible for the cost of health certificates and transportation costs. We may be able to help arrange transportation to Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, or central Colorado.
