I continue to admire the Iron-Rod goats, and this breeding resonates with the direction I want to take my herd.  I am thrilled at the opportunity to have Shyne.  Thank you Leslie and Larry for entrusting him to us!  Shyne is exeedingly long, tall, and dairy, in fact, very similar to his maternal half sister, Legs, also in our herd.  Since we first saw Shatte in our 2014 visit to the Iron-Rod herd, she has only gotten better!  She has been competitive at the National Show, placing 11th at age 4, 6th at age 6, and 7th at age 7.  Her maternal 1/2 sister was the late 2014 National Champion, CH Iron-Rod STB Shelby.  She also has a GCH daughter.  On Shyne's paternal side, he brings back Sanstorms Super Shyne, a throwback to the herd where I obtained my very first doe, Sanstorms Enchanting Mitzi.  Sheriff was the 2011 Premier Sire, has 6 offspring with permanent championships and three with superior genetics (SG) designations, and his son, Charmer, has also been named Premier Sire twice.  Shyne was sold in 2022.

Laureate at 18 months of age.

A great last-minute decision to be part of a purchase at Pleasant-Grove, Laureate combines some animals of historical interest to us with those that have been making a statement in the Midwest in the last several years.  Laureate is super stretchy, has a tremendous topline, and a beautiful rear leg set.  Please keep in mind that for his pictures and his yearling appraisal score that he remains very skittish and nervous.  Thank you Craig Koopman for sending him this way to influence our French program.  Laureate's first kids will be freshening in 2022: Sloane, Matisse, Magritte.  Laureate was sold in 2022.

Medesima, milked out after being named BDIS, 2014 WY Fuzzy Show, 6 years, 6 freshenings

Medesima is long and extremely dairy.  In her first show as a yearling, Medesima placed 2x1st with 1st udder in classes of 16!  Several judges described her as a very balanced and complete doe, and complimented her front end assembly.  Her udder is snugly attached, and she has just gotten better with age.  She finished her permanent championship at the 2013 WYDGA Fuzzy Show, and won Best Doe In Show in 2014 at age 6, with two more BDIS wins in 2016, one in 2017, and one in 2018!  Medesima is holding up beautifully as she ages--particularly in the strength and correctness of feet, legs, topline, and udder attachment--she epitomizes the quality coupled with the longevity I strive to attain with our does, as confirmed by her 92 EEEE appraisal score as an 8 year-old doe.  We are pleased with her 6th place finish in the aged doe class at the 2017 ADGA National Show in Madison.  Medesima passed away on Christmas Day, 2021.

 Magdalene, age 2.

Magdalene is very smooth, with the length, the dairy strength that we hold as ideal.  She walks with grace and elegance.  Her udder came in full, and socked-on.  As she ages, she continues to collect BUB and BUIS wins.  She continually catches my eye in the pen--definitely a favorite.  This doe really has it all.  What a wonderful outcross on our favorite doe from the Mamm-Key herd and our own beloved Medesima.  Her full brother, Mahogany, produced Melvyna (below) and the crosses between these two lines are really special.  Her daughter Magnolia, by Lincoln, was 3rd place Junior Kid at the 2017 National Show, and belongs to Alpenthal's.  We are pleased to retain her daughter Minerva, by Dawnwind Homie Manolo, in the herd in 2020, and daughter Magritte, by Pleasant-Grove Legion Laureate, in the herd in 2021.

 Tigress as a 6 year-old.

Tigress joined the herd in May of 2017.  We had previously shown against her in Colorado and Wyoming, admiring her tremendous fore udder, topline, and rump, not to mention her presence in the ring.  In 2016, we had the opportunity to obtain her buck kid, Trumpcard, to add to our French Alpines.  Trumpcard has done a magnificent job of bringing in that topline and foreudder to our herd...while genetics don't always click, this time it certainly did!  In 2017, we jumped at the chance to buy her, filling in a gap in the ages of our does, and adding a strong all-around doe to our show and breeding line up.  Since joining us, she has won a Best Udder of Breed and was the 4th place 5 & 6 year old milker at the 2017 ADGA National Show.  Tigress continues her show career in MN in 2021.

Merry at 2 years.

Merry is tremendously sweet and easy to handle.  She has a beautiful topline on the move, and her legs are set correctly beneath her.  As a yearling, she had a small, correct udder.  As a two year-old, she has tremendous extension to the foreudder and width to the rear udder.  Merry died after a severe bout of mastitis in 2021, with barn records of over 16# per day.  She had had healthy quads.  We already miss her tremendously

To continue to develop our French Alpine program, we were specifically looking for overall correctness coupled with outstanding rumps and foreudders.  We have shown against Tigress and Traza in Colorado, and admired them for those particular traits.  Sass ties us back into Qu'Appelle V Ember and Iron-Rod lines, and his dam is a full sister to the Premier National Sire GCH +*B Windrush Farms IRS Charmer 4-06 89 VEV.  Trumpcard is exceedingly well grown, and we are so pleased with him.  Thank you Sherry and Linda!

Sola is was bred by a local 4-Her.  She is incredibly dairy, and milking her heart out.  She maintains strong attachments, correct teat placement, and ease of milking.  She is demonstrating a high production level, easily attaining her milking star.  Sola's daughters Stella and Silly String remain in the herd, though she was sold in 2021.

I have several half sisters to Manolo, and they are sweet, moderately framed, and so incredibly easy to milk.  Manolo is also easy to handle, deep bodied, especially for a 2 year old.  He is also polled.

Third time's the charm on this breeding: finally, we have a doe from this cross!  Like all the Bon daughters, she is long, strong, dairy, and smoothly blended.  Her udder is very correct, productive, and easy to milk out.  Madeira suffered some mineral allocation issues before her first kidding, which has affected her development.  Sold 2019.

I admit that a broken sundgau catches my eye, helping Magnolia to remain a keeper.  This doe kid combines two lines that I think are incredibly strong--longevity and balance from Medesima, a beautiful udder in Magdalene, uphill and smooth topline from KJ, lovely balance to the head from Singed, and elegance from Legs.  Others were also impressed with this doe, as she won her dry leg as a junior kid, and then placed 3rd in the Junior Kid class at the 2017 ADGA National Show.  Magnolia has freshened with a very high, tight, and correct udder. Sold 2019.

Javotte is an outcross, hoping that my M line and the Chateau Briant J line would combine.  She is incredibly deep and surprisingly wide, though she is one of my smaller does.  She was born several pounds lighter than her twin brother and was sold as a kid, and returned to us as a dry yearling after we lost her full sister, Jinglebob.  I anticipate that she will continue to improve over time, which was confirmed by her high appraisal of 89 as a 2 year-old first freshener!  In 2017, her udder continues to shine, winning BUIS at the WY Fuzzy Show.  Sold 2018.

Jacquard was an exciting addition from Maine who I sold and has returned. I was very impressed with both her sire's and dam's structure, style, and performance. Her dam, Jovial, was 4th place yearling milker at the 2011 National Show, then as a 2 year-old, finished her permanent championship and also appraised 91 EEEE.  Her full sister, GCH Chateau Briant's Joyanna finished her championship at age 2, and appraised 2-02 EVEE 89.  Jacquard has a lot of length and height. Thank you Phil and Bob Cassette for breeding this beautiful doe!  A very tightly attached udder, with ideal medial.  Jacquard provided us with her daughter, Dawnwind Magnificent Javotte, who remains in the herd.

Lily as a first-freshening 2 year-old.

Lily's beautifully wide and flat rump is a standout in our herd.  She belonged to a local 4-Her since she was a kid, and we are happy to have her back.  Lily is very sweet-tempered and easy to handle.
