The following updates are chronological, starting with the most recent.
In 2016, we had 17 does total to freshen from March to May. It was very helpful to see so many first fresheners, and to get to use udders to make culling decisions. We also had 23/32 doe kids, so we had a lot of great kids to consider. We signed up for DHIR milk testing, Linear Appraisal, and ADGA Plus. We attended the Weld County Goat Extravaganza in Greeley, CO, the Wyoming Fuzzy Show in Torrington, WY, and the South Dakota Dairy Goat Show in Huron, SD. We hope to make a few more this year. Please contact us about any interest in kids, as we had plenty this spring.
In 2015, we moved again, and are now in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We hope to attend WY and CO shows in 2015 and beyond. We have a full herd of does to kid this spring. Kids arrived in March. Dawnwind Ideal Marvelle won highest production at a One-Day Milk Test, obtaining her *M, and we participated in Linear Appraisal as well, where we were quite pleased with her final score of 89. A pair of my buck kids were GCH and RGCH bucks at the Weld County Goat Extravaganza over adult bucks!
Early kids for 2014, unexpectedly so, particularly for Cahuna at age 11! We did the ADGA PLUS program, so LA, DHIR, and DNA testing were on the year's docket. The herd moved to East Central Wyoming, and our new location had us much closer to the Wyoming shows. We are adding some purebred Alpine genetics from the lovely Iron-Rod herd. Thank you, Leslie! A very successful show season, with Bon Idee finishing at age 2, and Medesima winning BDIS at the Wyoming Fuzzy Show! We introduced many children to showing, which was a blast. Great LA scores, particularly the Excellent final scores for Medesima, King Julien, Legs, and Blythe!
In 2013, we renewed our DHIR status, and were on milk test again. Medesima and Tatic finished their championships at the Fuzzy Show in Torrington, WY. Jinglebob was GCH as an intermediate kid at the Tri-County CO show. Connexion was GCH as a senior kid at the Wyoming State Fair. Marvelle and Buttercup both had reserve junior champion wins as well. *B Mamm-Key Zephyr's King Julien joined us this fall as another herdsire.
We participated in Linear Appraisal in 2012, welcomed *B Chateau Briant's Bon Idee and Chateau Briant's Jacquard to our herd, and attended the Wyoming State Fair shows in August, where our goats won three reserve awards. It was a year of rebuilding!
In 2011, we had a strong crop of kids, after cutting herd numbers by nearly half. We took the year off of showing, LA, and DHIR, as we had our baby girl in October.
We are pleased to have been a participant in DHIR in 2010. Several of our does obtained their milking star awards. At the Cheyenne Fuzzy show, we had three RGCH awards: Dawnwind Mega Magnifico, Dawnwind Magnifique Mirabelle, and Dawnwind Zeeman Creme de Cocoa. At the Tri-County Show in Colorado, Dawnwind Retake Cahuna, Dawnwind Zeeman Clementine, and Dawniwnd Magnifique Mirabelle also all received RGCH awards. Linear Appraisal was very rewarding, with three of our homebred animals appraising Excellent, and promising scores on our young animals. We are so excited about Magnifico's 91 EEE score as a four year-old buck!!!
During the 2009 show season (in 8 rings), our goats won 5 GCH and 1 RGCH awards. Dawnwind Magnifique Claddagh was 2xJrGCH at the 2009 Cheyenne Fuzzy Wuzzy Quad Show; Dawnwind Magnifique Melody won JrGCH at the Tri-County Show, while Dawnwind Retake Cahuna was RGCH in the Senior division. Dawnwind Mega Magnifico and Bilrite MX Zeeman each won a leg at the Wyoming State Fair/District VII Alpine Specialty Buck show. Dawnwind Retake Cahuna obtained her milking star in a one day milk test and both she and Bilrite MS Thyristor scored 89 in Linear Appraisal!
Please email or call with any questions. We look forward to seeing you at the shows!
